About Our School

The Wyckoff Reformed Church Nursery School has been serving the community since it was founded in 1973. Our school is committed to providing children ages 2-6 with a rewarding Christian educational program designed to develop mental, physical and social growth. The curriculum provides a well-balanced thematic program that incorporates literacy, math, science, art, music and physical education. Classes are offered in both the morning and afternoon, as well as a Lunch & Play program. We also offer Pre-K and Kindergarten Enrichment classes to enhance the daily program. The school’s large, well-equipped classrooms, featuring carpeted floors and child-sized equipment, offer students a comfortable, relaxed learning environment, as well as a new state-of-the-art playground. All classes are led by certified, experienced teachers and assistants. Annually, the teachers receive professional development courses that focus on all aspects of child development. It is our goal at WRCNS to promote each child’s range of abilities. It is most effective for the staff to ascertain your child’s primary modality for learning, whether it be visual, kinesthetic or auditory. Most individuals use a combination of the three. By using this framework, a child’s mind is easily able to collect data and apply it to any area of learning.

In addition, our goal is to provide a differentiation of instruction to reach all students by enabling them to grow and thrive in a rich environment. It is not our intent to have the children show mastery of the skills being presented, but rather, to have our students be active participants, having fun while they discover and learn.

The nurturing and loving aspect of our program is the cornerstone that makes this school special. That will never change, but at each level, additional academics have been added to ensure a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
